Alain Mazaud is undoubtedly one of the finest modern luthiers. His guitars are superb, and sound superb. Owning a Mazaud guitar is like owning a Busato. Just look at pictures. And if you want to play one, you are in for a great surprise. His guitars have it all, the strong bass, great mids and highs, perfect balance and a projection you only find with Busato.
Alain Mazaud was born in 1965 in Soissons. He started his apprenticeship with Jean Marie Desaunay, who builds luths, classical and flamenco guitars, inspired by Robert Bouchet and Antonio Marin Montero from Grenada (Spain)
Alain Mazaud worked then, between 1991 and 1992, with Maurice Dupont in Cognac. In 1993, Alain Mazaud set up his own shop in Caen and devoted himself to the repair and the making of Selmer type guitars. He also cooperated with the luthier of the Jean Yves Tanguy quatuor in 1995 and 1995, for the repair and the making of violins, cellos and older type instruments.
He devotes himself to the making of Selmer type guitars and Busato inspired guitars, using artisan luthier techniques.
If you are thinking of acquiring a great new guitar, and before deciding to buy a semi industrial one (Dupont), contact true artisans like Alain Mazaud. The quality of the lutherie and the sound of the guitar from such great artisans are much better than the semi industrial production. Just look at the following pictures and decide for yourself...
